I have some similar background scenery pieces (cliffs, mountains) from 17+ year old LEGO Star Wars sets.
youtube.com/watch?v=mNqBI7 set which was released when I was 7 has a huge piece for the entire mountain. The entire base of it is that one piece + 5 large single layer ones.

I recall the first castle-set I had (too long ago) had single pieces for the window frames which I hated, because the first castles I saw (as a younger kid) were more “built from scratch”

I haven't seen many newer sets but I think they probably do less of it now because they have a much broader range of common pieces reused across sets.
Had a ton of the robotics stuff when I was around 10 to 13 since I'd gotten tired of the normal stuff. Trying to find the names.

Had some huge set for the Scout (blue) and another with the standard yellow RCX. I wonder if it still works.
It was very much function-over-form and ridiculously awesome to build from.
