I've been loath to offer public health advice, because I'm not an expert, but it really seems that NSW & the federal government need to properly pay people to stay home and to get tested if they want to have any hope of controlling this

Australia's vaccination rate is ridiculously low for a wealthy country. Canada massively screwed up our vaccination deployment early on but it's now up to 80% with one dose and 64% with both. Also nearly entirely the mRNA vaccines since they did limited AZ + stopped using it.

The Australia federal government botched the vaccine contracts and screwed up the communications around the AZ thrombosis issue. We're slowly catching up, but until we have way more of the population vaccinated, we need to stringently control the outbreak lest lots of people due

The issue we had is that our federal government was very concerned about the US blocking exports, so they focused on EU-based mRNA vaccine production and AZ. They ended up restricting AZ to only older people once most had already been vaccinated, and then just stopped using it.

So, it's hard to understand how another wealthy country could be doing worse than us when our government screwed things up so badly. We were way behind the US and other countries that were doing well but now we've substantially surpassed US and most of the others we were behind.

The only reason I don't have my 2nd is because I've just been waiting for the original appointment they booked. I could go to a walk in location and cancel that though. Any adult who urgently wanted 2nd has it. I'm just not in a rush: don't go outside for work, order groceries.
