Yeah, this. I don't have to formally prove that memory safety should be a given or that other approaches aren't as effective. It's obvious, it isn't worth discussing.

Because we've been trying your way for 40 years and have failed. It is very frustrating to see people like you say "oh, but what if we don't *really* need memory safety after all?" No. We are not going to keep having this discussion. It's 2021. We don't need any more evidence.

The baseline of memory safety is well and truly there - eg. that offered by Perl, java, python, etc for decades. It'd be nice to bring that to systems software, but I'm pretty sure nobody would use an unsafe language for a web app these days.
