I don't see anything replacing git any time really. Though again people said that about gcc in the early 2000s. Git has more usage than gcc had across all platforms.

Replacing Git as software can be done without replacing it as the base object system / protocol.

It's drastically harder to do that for Linux but it's still possible to reimplement enough of the API as shown by WSL1 and gVisor.
