A thing I find mildly frustrating is that if you have a tab that is crunching CPU use to 99% the Chrome task manager can tell you which one but if you have a tab that is driving GPU use to 99% the Chrome task manager doesn't know about that
Maybe only the OS knows that. IDK

Can't you add that as a column in the Chrome task manager? I vaguely remember being able to right click the column hears to add stuff.

That's dumb. I'm pretty sure Chrome as an application knows where the GPU time is going as it shows up per "renderer" in chrome://tracing maybe just not exposed.

It has a very good idea of it because it proxies it all from the site sandboxes to the GPU process so they must need to schedule access to the GPU themselves. I don't think they actually expose information on this though.
Yeah the way I know it's what's happening is the chrome gpu process is going nuts in the OS task viewer

They do have the super useful functionality of being able to open chrome://gpucrash to crash the process and chrome://gpuhang to hang it indefinitely resulting in needing to kill Chromium.
chrome://gpuclean might actually be useful since it seems to clear the state.
