N, you can still skip all that and download the driver directly. Rather than getting any GeForce Experience. That said, if you want the drivers to auto-update, then you need to make an account. Because yay.

They distribute them via Windows Update, but they're older versions of the drivers. GeForce Experience distributes a more bleeding edge version of the drivers.
The Windows Update drivers are essentially LTS drivers without the same optimized support for games and extra stuff.
