Rise of Nations was an amazing game too. It's essentially what you get when you combine AoE2 with Civilization 2. It wasn't nearly as successful and well known as it should have been.
There's a Rise of Nations: Extended Edition remaster but it didn't really accomplish much.

It's pretty depressing they revived en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Huge_ to make mobile games. Hadn't realized that until now.
It's too bad Microsoft only owns the publishing rights to RoN since I'm sure they'd be making a proper remaster and extended content as they're doing with AoE.
RoN is still a great game and holds up really well. Base game is really good. Campaign mode was interesting but campaigns it has are too short and aren't particularly good other than the Cold War one.
From my perspective, it's the last good take on that style of RTS after AoM.
