Gaming headphones is where its at. I had the Steel Series Arctis 7 before the pandemic, got em for $99. Mic sounds great, audio quality decent, comfortable wearing them for hours, battery lasts through the work day, has a mute button. So happy I have them for video calls.

I use drop.com/buy/massdrop-x which have really nice audio quality (input and output) to the point that I use them as my regular headphones now. Hardware disconnect for the mic when raising the beam.
Have fancier closed back headphones but mostly use these. Far more comfortable.

Prefer not having to deal with wireless / charging at all and the cable is a nice flexible, fabric covered one which stops itself being accidentally run over by a chair.
Nicer than far more expensive Sennheiser gaming headers. Downside is dealing with drop.com...
