Package manager dependency solvers are so stupid. There is utterly no justifiable reason for upgrading python to cause an upgrade of libreoffice. I'm not picking on any particular package manager. Just the whole concept is fundamentally wrong somehow.

Sharing dependencies saves space and memory which is nice but the traditional design has very high friction. It also gets far messier when the dependencies aren't simply libraries but rather services like postgresql, etc. since it means having messy shared state across packages.
