It really shouldn't need pointing out that the way to win hearts and minds isn't to fork code under a permissive license just so you can add copyleft material to it

GNU/people actually bothering people, attacking them and spreading misinformation about their projects has helped not only drive people further away from GPL but made them actively hostile towards it.
I've realized that I don't want that kind of restrictive licensing around.
It's incredibly painful dealing with license incompatibilities such as GPLv2-only code like the Linux kernel being incompatible with GPLv3. I prefer not having restrictively licensed GPL code around at all. I need to be able to freely work / port stuff across multiple codebases.
