RBC (Royal Bank of Canada) wouldn't let me pay this invoice because the business name contains a '&' character and they broke having a payee with symbols in the name. I had to delete the entry and add it back without the proper name for the business. Banks are the worst.

Still mad they broke the account for my backup credit card without contacting me because I wasn't using it.
A company leaked my credit card information last year and I had to have it replaced after fraud start happening. I tried to start using my backup card and it didn't work.

It was still listed as an active account in online banking and credit reports. I tried to get them to fix it and they wouldn't do it or tell me why it didn't work.
Next credit report said account had been closed by customer request. They lied to the credit reporting agency...

You also ned to bar them from raising your credit limit unilaterally. They do that so people can forget, go crazy, be subject to fraud that is unproven, and thus interest accumulates at compound rates and basically fucking you over. RBC are scoundrels.

I set it up to receive an email + text for every credit card purchase after this happened. I hardly give out my credit card information so I'm really confused about how my information was compromised. Short list of sites which could have leaked it, or it could be RBC/Mastercard.

In 1990 or 2000 revision of the Bank Act, the industry lobbied to have an important clause removed from article 1. In french it was more elegant and to the point 'le banquier doit agir en bon père de famille'. In essence they got the license to eff anyone over.
