Heads up if you used any Freenode channels, the people who hijacked Freenode have been banning/sockpuppeting any channel that directs people to Librachat. So uh. Maybe just assume the project moved to Librachat, because they're not allowed to tell you where they moved to (??)

freenode just seized control of the #zig channel without warning. we moved to libera.chat on day 1, but jesus christ this is so hostile. Now the topic no longer tells people how to get to the new server.

Like it's inconvenient since some projects are moving to OFTC or Matrix, but I guess this is what we have to work with

We set this up to bridge between Matrix, Telegram, OFTC and libera in an uninvasive way: gist.github.com/thestinger/214 It sends rich formatting between Telegram and Matrix including inline images, etc. which is nice. The best experience is definitely on Matrix but this works fine.

I like having a way for people who use IRC to participate that way. They can see that nearly the entire community is on Matrix from the bridge and consider using it for a better experience. They don't have to though, and it stops the community from fragmenting across platforms.

If people insisted on making a Discord server and started using it, we'd ask for ownership of it as we did with the Telegram rooms and then add it to the matterbridge setup too. The best way of dealing with this is just accepting some people will use their preferred platform.
