Freenode admins hijacked the #grapheneos and #grapheneos-offtopic channels due to us migrating to Matrix rooms: gist.github.com/thestinger/eb9 They removed our channel moderation privileges, changed the topic and set the channel to invite-only preventing users from joining/rejoining.

They appear to have taken over any channel mentioning libera.chat in the topic even if they weren't moving away from freenode. Their stated intention is to retaliate against anyone moving to other networks even if they aren't specifically moving to libera though.

It'd be nice if they knew how to properly usurp channels by using a redirect ban instead of +i. I don't mean that sarcastically. I could continue telling people what happened in the new rooms they created with ##. Their incompetence in taking them over will hurt our users.

Tried to convince them to either give back to the channels or at least usurp them properly. No luck. On the positive side, we have nice new Matrix rooms, grapheneos.org Matrix server for our use and matterbridge is providing a better experience between Matrix/Telegram.
