I've always been skeptical about PIA. The hostile takeover of Freenode partially confirms those suspicions.

PIA was sold to another company in 2019 so Andrew Lee hasn't been involved with it for a while. I don't think PIA was ever really involved in this aside from Andrew Lee cross-promoting his companies. Him being their founder isn't a good look for them though.
Andrew Lee was also involved in Mt. Gox and Mark Karpeles is still involved in his companies... which is pretty shady considering they pulled some kind of exit scam and stole a bunch of money.
