So it looks like Android's new design language is "light pastels on a white background". From the brief overview in this video it's not as bad as iOS but gosh I wish people designed for usability instead of looking "cool" in a 30-second demo.

Also where the hell are our "back/home" buttons. They appear to have removed those and replaced them with an iOS-style horizontal line at the bottom of the screen. Apple: A cryptic horizontal line is not a UI. Google: Stop copying Apple's bad ideas

Oh, that's already been implemented since android 11. However, there are usually a setting to enable the back and home buttons. It will look probably kinda ugly.

It was introduced in Android 10 and has gone through a few rounds of minor tuning (sensitivity, etc.) in Android 11 and then Android 11 QPR2 (2nd quarterly release). 3-button / 2-button navigation modes look pretty much the same as before and aren't really ugly in any way.
