So it looks like Android's new design language is "light pastels on a white background". From the brief overview in this video it's not as bad as iOS but gosh I wish people designed for usability instead of looking "cool" in a 30-second demo.

Also where the hell are our "back/home" buttons. They appear to have removed those and replaced them with an iOS-style horizontal line at the bottom of the screen. Apple: A cryptic horizontal line is not a UI. Google: Stop copying Apple's bad ideas

Gesture navigation was added as an option in Android 10. There's a setting to choose between 3-button, 2-button and gesture navigation. They removed 2-button on their own OS for Pixels for simplicity so they're down to 2 options. AOSP still supports 2-button navigation though.
