Termite (github.com/thestinger/ter) development has been dead for a couple years and I've finally declared it obsolete.
Alacritty has a keyboard text selection mode inspired by Termite and the upcoming 0.8 release adds a similar hints mode. It's dramatically faster than VTE too.

Many thanks for your work on Termite. For years it was the only term emu that does IBus(+Mozc) IME input on Wayland, so I stuck with it over Alacritty (doesn't function). pretty sure it's down to IBus being shite, but sad to lose that

Is there an issue filed about it for Alacritty? Maybe they can figure out what's wrong and work around it even if it isn't their fault.
