Once I got the first Aurora from a bar heist, I couldn't stop myself from farming a fleet of them. Built-in SO, hardened shields and hardened subsystems with 3x heavy blaster, front shields and solar shielding even with max vents and near max caps was maybe a bit overpowered. :P

There's a problem with SO build all over the fleet, it usually gets too congested to fit more ships(more than 2 or 3) to attack the same target. I personally run a SO eagle fleet and found that it's better to have the other half of the fleet without SO and focus on ranged combat.

Auroras are very high DP ships so you aren't going to have that many of them. They can attack a few ships at a time rather than all ganging up on them. I usually don't use SO at all beyond on my flagship in the early game. It was ridiculously OP as a built-in mod though.

My flag ship has been medusa since SO's out. I usually don't invest on combat skill since 9.0, I'd rather leave the larger ships to my officers when I focus on attacking the enemy' engines with dual Ion Pulser and dual Needler. SO basically makes any ship a berserker with it.

I usually use a Doom for the opener. SO Aurora was fun but it's very weak to fighters. Ended up having to painfully kite them around, inefficiently killing them, wasting a ton of time. AI also handles it really badly. It doesn't really try to shoot fighters with non-PD weapons.
