I should really be nicer. Yeah, Thomas and Alito predictably sided with Ellison (presumably because the Legion of Doom sticks together). However, the majority made a good call, which applies to like 95% of cases they hear (even if it's only 10% of high profile cases).

With how badly Google argued their case in front of the court, I'm 100% surprised by this decision. I agree APIs should be available w/ fair use, but after hearing Google's lawyers butcher any sort of coherent explanation as to why... I fully expected us to enter an API dark age.

It's still not really clear to me why this case is so different from the Borland case. Borland copied names and organization of functions from Lotus but no code, isn't that basically the same?
