Not sure what about it does not qualify as "a real Linux"... Unlike a traditional distribution it compatibility with a large # of mobile apps including things like Signal and WhatsApp along with a strong application security model, modern exploit mitigations, verified boot, etc.

If it works on generic Android without Play services it should work on GrapheneOS. Only reason it wouldn't be the case is if an app has serious bugs uncovered by the many added exploit mitigations. Some apps have blatant memory corruption during regular use. Getting less common.
