LLVM has replacements for nearly all of binutils. It can even be used for the Linux kernel already.
LLVM assembler isn't quite a drop in replacement yet but the rest of it is already usable.
LLD is drastically better than GNU ld and the essentially unmaintained gold linker.

Baseline (i.e. everything but the assembler) is fully usable and ready for production with the Linux kernel. LLVM assembler will work for most other projects. Linux kernel loves GNU extensions.
