I stopped using my original credit card account after I'd moved to a better one giving me more of the merchant fees. I kept it as a backup.
I found out my bank had silently disabled it at some point without unlisting it when my new card credentials were leaked by a data breach.
They refused to send me a new card for it since I hadn't used it for too long but the account was still active.
In response to me trying to get a new card issued, they closed the account without me asking for that, and since it was my oldest account that hurt my credit rating.

My credit report lists that account as closed per customer request as if I asked for it rather than trying to make it work again.
Doesn't matter since I don't use credit beyond taking advantage of credit card purchase protection and the payment cycle but it shows how dumb it is.
