I saw a photo of the Toronto city hall earlier attached to a news story about politics and I was like... damn... I wanna like... go to the plaza in front of the Toronto city hall and like... walk... in a circle.

The slightly embarrassing thing here is I like roller skating but I don't do so well at ice skating. I own my own roller skates! Maybe now I'm in canada I should get used to ice skating. I can't seem to find anywhere to roller skate around here that isn't like past Mississauga

Yes, it's concrete with some magical system of cooling it down underneath. They make the ice surface themselves and regularly clean it with a Zamboni. I have fond memories of playing the massive piles of snow they dump outside the skating rink basically in the off-leash dog area.

So they're used for roller skating, ball hockey, etc. in the summer. That's probably why you can't find places to roller skate. I've seen people roller skating all the time in that skating rink and there are a lot of other ones around everywhere.

Ice skating season isn't really that tied to the weather because of the artificial cooling. In the picture they have there, the building in the foreground has changing areas, etc. and the one visible through the fence hosts some kind of system for cooling down the rink surface.
