To clarify something, the Pixel 4a and Pixel 4a (5G) are completely different phones with a different SoC. Pixel 4a was $349 at launch in August 2020. Pixel 4a (5G) was $499 at launch in October 2020. Pixel 4a (5G) is from the same generation as the Pixel 5 with the same SoC.

The naming is strange and I find it strange that they made the Pixel 4a (5G) at all instead of releasing the usual XL and non-XL variants with a budget device (or two, for an XL variant) released at least 6 months afterwards.
