The Cloud is ... actually built out of old shipping containers? Or does it just look that way?

Back when they were in rapid growth, they quickly threw together 12 containers (SPG1). I think they possibly did this in Gravelines as well (?). SPG2 was then built (and is what caught fire here). It's sort of like 2 hollow cubes put together. SPG3 is similar I believe.

The 1st/2nd pictures show the 3 DCs together. Very close - but they don't advertise them as separate AZs AFAICT. You basically rent a server in SBG and get the building you get. They've got a bunch of French DCs in different cities, so not so bad if you spread out.

You pick a location and get assigned to a data centre at the location. If you enable their backup feature it apparently backs up to an entirely separate location.
