We have a major incident on SBG2. The fire declared in the building. Firefighters were immediately on the scene but could not control the fire in SBG2. The whole site has been isolated which impacts all services in SGB1-4. We recommend to activate your Disaster Recovery Plan.

Fire Has Destroyed OVH’s Strasbourg Data Center (SBG2)

No OVH, firefighting, or local government services staff members were injured, the company said. Restart of surviving data centers on campus not anticipated until Monday.

Is it bad that I mostly know of Ovh about how often I came across them while investigating phishing etc....? Think they were pivotal in the encrochat thing too.

I believe they're cheap. They have many legitimate customers too and I've seen good talks by their internal security people.

Yeah I know. I think a lot of gaming servers get hosted there too. I don’t know if they’re better or worse than any other cloud/vps provider in that respect.

OVH is known for having good DDoS mitigation, ridiculously understaffed support and great pricing. I think all three of those things make it appealing for that niche. OVH DDoS protection makes it quite popular for hosting game servers too thanks to kids paying for DDoS attacks.

Makes sense. I also wondered if were going to notice a bit of a dip in malicious activity due to their outage. Would be interesting to see.
