so i have two seemingly identical 2.0 only C-to-C USB cables. one that came with my Pixel 3, and one aftermarket.
plugged into my PC, the phone fast charges fine from either.
plugged into a power bank, the phone thrashes plugged with the second but not the first one

The #grapheneos IRC/Matrix channel is largely a place to help people debug issues with their USB cables, ports and OS drivers. I'm convinced that most things with USB-C are broken. People have trouble believing that the brand new cable they got from Amazon is the problem though.

I may or may not have paid $60 to a service center to fail to fix for several days what might have been a cable issue
(in fairness, the first time they "fixed" my phone it no longer enumerated at all...)

in the end I solved the problem by switching to blueline, which I suppose is one way to do it.

I wish 3a, 3a XL, 4a and 4a (5G) had wireless charging because I'm tired of dealing with USB cables.
I own one of each Pixel variant along with an extra blueline which is 14 Pixel phones in total. I need to keep 12 of those charged since only 1st generation are fully retired.
I still get kernel panics occasionally from unplugging or plugging in one of the phones. It went away for a while but it's back away for newer kernel versions.
No idea which cables are which at this point but I guess I can tell the chargers apart from the barely readable text.

It's also pretty common that my mouse / keyboard stop working and I end up thinking the computer locked up only to realize USB just stopped working. I don't really think it likes having at least six phones plugged in. If USB hubs actually worked I'd probably hook them all up.
