so i have two seemingly identical 2.0 only C-to-C USB cables. one that came with my Pixel 3, and one aftermarket. plugged into my PC, the phone fast charges fine from either. plugged into a power bank, the phone thrashes plugged with the second but not the first one

I may or may not have paid $60 to a service center to fail to fix for several days what might have been a cable issue (in fairness, the first time they "fixed" my phone it no longer enumerated at all...)

If people are following the instructions correctly, the remaining issues are almost entirely USB related. Most problems are solved by people using a better cable or different ports on their computer. Some laptops seem to have half ports broken, or at least all USB-C broken.

The broken cables, ports, etc. don't work any better for flashing the stock OS. It's not anything to do with GrapheneOS specifically. It's not something specific to flashing GrapheneOS either. It's an issue with the USB-C ecosystem in general. It's all around terrible / broken.
