Does it support all the apps available on android, or are there restrictions?

Apps without a hard dependency on Play services will work. A lot of mainstream apps with work fine with most or all of their functionality. Many others won't due to hard dependencies on Google services being deeply integrated into the OS. Can install any apps you want on it.
There's also now support for running Play services apps in the app sandbox without any special privileges:
