The load screen shows you advertisements for microtransactions the entire time. It's their main source of revenue. It's why they didn't end up making more singleplayer content for GTA V. Don't think they're in a rush to show people fewer advertisements for virtual currency.

GTA: Online has pretty much killed GTA as a game franchise from my perspective. I wouldn't be surprised if future releases are a hollow shell of what it used to be since they'll focus on online content that's far cheaper to make and earns tons of microtransaction money.
GTA IV had en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_The and en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_The which are substantial expansions with their own campaigns with stories, voice acting, etc.
GTA: Online is based around selling people virtual currency. Mechanics are based around it. Literally pay for car insurance.

Thanks to GTA: Online, they also treat modding as copyright infringement and hacking. Never had any interest in mods for their games but it's pretty nasty.
They're essentially anti-PC-gaming too despite it being by far the best platform for their games due to supposed piracy.
