twitter.com/GrapheneOS/sta It looks like we'll finally be able to ship hardened_malloc without any workarounds. All of the known issues it uncovers in the OS have been resolved. There are still assorted third party apps with memory corruption in regular use which are problematic.

It doesn't appear that the audio subsystem has any of these issues anymore, so all devices newer than the Pixel 3 can have hardened_malloc without any workarounds. These issues specific to drivers are part of why device support is so much work and requires dedicated maintainers.

Going to be making a new release adding back workarounds for the remaining Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL camera driver issues. In the future, we need more users doing Beta channel testing on the older devices and reporting any issues they encounter with new releases as soon as possible.

Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a (5G) and Pixel 5 have much more active testers because we formed the group before the devices were officially supported. People got invested in helping with it in order to get their devices supported. For older devices, we're not getting much Beta feedback.
