The unlimited bandwidth caps and DDoS mitigation with OVH are important for us. The alternative would be using one of the major cloud providers. OVH are the seemingly the only ones offering competitive network infrastructure. They also have both VPS and dedicated, which is nice.

The pricing isn't one of the highest priorities for us. Hosting isn't a substantial cost for us. We're spending about $100/month on hosting and $3500/month on legal fees. I'd happily pay for a dozen Elite tier OVH VPS before starting to consider if something else is better.

The hosting cost will be increasing to about $200/month after these planned improvements. It's really not a substantial cost compared to other things. Currently just need a couple more of these VPS instances to balance the load across with DNS round robin. Keeping it simple.

We also want it to be easy for other people to deploy their own update servers for their own builds. This way of doing it makes it very accessible because someone can simply spin up a VPS anywhere and use a variation of our nginx configuration from github.com/GrapheneOS/rel.
