Copperhead was raiding our channel again for hours while I was asleep. I just woke up and I'm helping the moderators who have been busy dealing with it.
The Matrix room often has to be closed to new users joining due to these raids. Please try using IRC if you're unable to join.

I really don't like closing the room to new users but I don't see another way to deal with it. It causes a lot of harm to our community either way.
If there's a way to disable inline images in a Matrix room let me know. Need some help from matrix.org admins too.

I created these 5 posts yesterday in response to their escalating attacks and misinformation. These posts contain proof of their bad behavior. Further proof including code archives, chat logs and archived tweets will continue to be shared until they completely drop their attacks.

Every time Copperhead makes an attack against us, there will be a response from GrapheneOS and our community to defend the project. When they aren't attacking us, we're focusing on the project and not talking about them. They keep choosing to inflict this harm on themselves.

There are dozens of companies and individuals selling phones with GrapheneOS or forks of it in compliance with our licensing and trademarks. Some help support us and others don't. We're fine with all of that. Copperhead are scammers trying to harm us, not a legitimate business.

If you want to start flashing phones with GrapheneOS and selling them, you're free to do that. We'd greatly appreciate it if you donated a portion of the money to the project or better yet provided development help. You have no obligation to do it though. It's fine either way.

The issue with Copperhead is not the general idea of the business model. The issue with them is that they poorly copy our work without attribution, fraudulently claim to be the ones who created it, add dangerous tracking code and dedicate most of their resources to harming us.

They aren't a privacy or security company. They're scammers. James is a con artist. He stole over 5 BTC of donations he collected for the open source project and more.
Here's him being recorded by someone throwing his garbage off his old condo's balcony: streamable.com/ryjnj8.
