I've sorta been halfheartedly watching Agents of Shield cause it's sort of fun sometimes but it's just so, so dumb. sounds like this is no better.

Agents of Shield is ok, but the last few seasons are bonkers

I liked the first season, tolerated the second, and season 3 is challenging not so much my ability to suspend disbelief but, I don't know, my ability to absorb corny dialog maybe...

Go watch Legion if you haven't seen it:

It's genuinely good. It's the X-Men universe rather than the MCU... but Disney got control of that and appears to be on track to merging them. Legion in particular may actually be somewhat relevant to WandaVision.

I lost the thread on season 2, but season 1 was surprisingly well done

I didn't enjoy the 2nd season as much as the 1st but it was still quite good. I think the 3rd season was the best. It got wrapped up in a very strange but also satisfying way which wasn't what I was expecting from it.

Agents of Shield goes from being ridiculously painful to somewhat watchable with the monster of the week stuff out of the way. It gets a lot less bad after they give up on the MCU and go completely off the rails. It's never good television though. It's cringeworthy to the end.

it's truly silly, but fun enough that I return to it for an episode every now and then!

I tried to ignore it for long periods of time, then would end up binge watching it while doing AOSP/Chromium builds and believe me it's not the kind of show that you want to binge watch. Probably why I have an extremely low opinion of it. Compiler scrollback was more compelling.

Went to go check on the life signs of the TV shows I actually enjoy and now I'm sad rottentomatoes.com/tv/patriot isn't getting a 3rd season. I blame that crappy Jack Ryan show.
Guess I'm down to 2 good TV shows: Better Call Saul and The Boys. Fargo lost the honor of being good, IMO.
I can't really enjoy The Boys, I'm generally fine with mean-spirited television but this takes it too far, it's just ugly

I can see that. It's definitely really dark, especially how it starts out. I wasn't bothered by it. It's a got more lighthearted side to it and I appreciated the satire, especially all the ripping on the American right in season 2. I tend to like really dark comedy stuff though.
