Actually EKR and I had a lot of discussion about this. I went back through his IETF mailing list discussions. I did not see any compelling case that the NSA would have needed to tell him “hey we need more random bits on the wire to implement a backdoor”.

Well, I tried to contact a number of folks from the time period, and submitted FOIA requests. Most told me they couldn’t talk about it. The story was widely publicized in the news and nobody stepped forward to say “this is a misunderstanding”. Should I go to her house?

There is a fine line between “it is in every newspaper and you have chosen to say nothing” and “I am on your phone harassing you”. Where do the two of you recommend I should place myself? Serious question.

I made it clear that certain things happened, that there is a pattern of facts that makes these things look very bad, that people involved have had years to respond to these allegations. That’s not an implication, it’s a statement of opinion based on my research.

Margaret Salter is a fully functional human being who can correct the record. The fact that you are here on Twitter defending her instead is a very clear implication that she has chosen not to mount a defense.

Suppose that there was a backdoor and they had her do relevant standards work to get the pieces in place without her knowing the overall scheme. That doesn't mean she's free to talk about her work on it. She's not necessarily *allowed* to defend herself.
