twitter.com/GrapheneOS/sta This is one of many examples of why it's important for this kind of project to be a non-profit organization. A company with a business model based on selling phones has a conflict of interest pushing them to make it increasingly more difficult to install.

Our WebUSB-based install at grapheneos.org/install/web now supports installing GrapheneOS on all of the officially supported devices. It's still experimental, but it's ready for broader testing. grapheneos.org/install/cli is still recommend if your OS provides fastboot and signify.

Being a non-profit doesn't mean we can't obtain the funding we need for the project. It means that the funding goes entirely to improving the project. It means we can work with multiple companies without worrying about helping competitors or having compatible business models.

GrapheneOS is an infrastructure project. A company can take components of GrapheneOS or the project as a whole and build a phone with it as long as they adhere to the copyright and trademark requirements. If they're willing and able to meet high standards, they can work with us.

It doesn't bother us to have companies taking GrapheneOS and profiting from it as long as they aren't harming the project or our brand. Our goal is not extracting profit from it. We're very open to collaborating with companies, but they need to understand it's not exclusive.

If someone wants to buy a phone with GrapheneOS preinstalled from a company providing customer support for it, there are multiple options available. Take your pick. We're not interested in doing that. We're very interested in working with partners to build better hardware though.

Consider this a guide if you want to reach out to the project or myself about working with us. We don't want to found a company with you. We don't want to make a business deal. We want to collaborate with you to build things. If you want to build a business, great, you can do it.

We need more developers and we need hardware partners. It's easiest for us if companies hire developers to work on the project. Donating money so that we can fund them is the next best thing. A lot of people seem confused that money is the means to an end rather than the goal.
