SMS receiving is curently not working within secondary user profile in although "calls and SMS" are enabled in profile settings. Is this a bug?
Backups also don't work in secondary user profiles but that's a lesser issue.

Backups are implemented with github.com/seedvault-app/. GrapheneOS doesn't make any modifications to it. The next release of GrapheneOS updates it to a newer revision.
If you have bugs or feature requests for Seedvault, you need to make them for Seedvault, not for GrapheneOS.

For SMS, are you using the default Messaging app? Are you able to send SMS messages from the secondary user? Are you able to send and receive calls with the secondary user?

ok, i've made some tests: SMS work if the system provided Messages app is set as default on both sides. if there's Signal as a default app on one side (even only on secondary user profile) then it's not working. so this issue is probably out of your jurisdiction?

i'm talking only about receiving SMS. sending and calling works everywhere with any app.

It's likely a bug in Signal:

The issue was closed upstream.
In general, I strongly recommend using the Messaging app as your SMS client and sticking to using Signal for end-to-end encrypted calls and texts. It helps with avoiding use of insecure texts.
