Yes, there are many relevant changes to the OS protecting against exploitation and improving encryption. GrapheneOS also only officially supports device with strong hardware-based encryption support. This is important for protecting data in profiles without a strong passphrase.

Also recommend reading the community documentation written on GrapheneOS and past posts about these topics. It's unrealistic to repeat answers every time someone asks questions. Very detailed answers and information have been given about encryption, user profiles, and so on.
