When we do video work at Google, there's always a framerate battle. The pros want 24fps, because it looks the most film-like, whereas the devs want 60fps, because it looks the most natural for screencasts.

60fps is the uncanny valley of frame rates. It makes me feel weird.

Both my 4k monitors drive around ~30Hz My older MacBook pro runs slower also.

The issue could be the cable.

fwiw, my previous mac was capped to 30hz for 4k displays.

Poor cable is a possibility! I was doing some crazy settings in the monitor to get it with my old MacBook Pro, so that might be it also. + my other PC laptop (4yo, Intel integrated GPU) can't 4k 60Hz. Too bad statcounter doesn't collect Hz rate with screen rez.
