If I did the math correctly, about $350 in additional pledges would be matchable by GitHub for the remainder of the membership-year to get the max possible matching funding.

Wow, I think new sponsors since that tweet got included for GitHub's matching payout today! Thank you! Looks like I might really make the full match before the year is done.

One issue is that not all pledges get matched: github.community/t5/Support-Pro I get the "Your GitHub Sponsors contribution will not be matched at this time." banner myself and I've actively used the account for years. Maybe it's because I've never paid for one of their non-free plans.

As far as I can tell, most of my sponsorships are matched though. A fair number of people have complained that it told them their sponsorship wouldn't be matched though. Maybe they start matching after they see that the credit card payments aren't being charged back? Not sure.

I think if you set a funding goal, it will encourage people to sponsor because they can see how much progress you've made towards that and help with it. I set an arbitrary goal based on replacing all other sources of income: github.com/sponsors/thest. I think that helped a lot.
