where should I report a bug? Also, is there any doc about seedvault? i.e. how to restore a backup?

Restoring a full backup is done as part of the new setup wizard process when setting up the device. So, if you lose the device or the hardware fails you can restore from the backup when setting up a new device. It can also restore app data from a backup when reinstalling apps.

It doesn't currently have a way to trigger a restore from a backup other than the SetupWizard restore functionality or the way it can restore data for apps that were removed and then installed again. It just hasn't been implemented yet. It's currently a very barebones backup app.

You need to file an issue at github.com/stevesoltys/se since it's a Seedvault issue rather than a GrapheneOS issue. That's what I tried to explain on the issue tracker about this. The issue with the VPN needs to be reported as a bug to the VPN app since it's a bug in their app.

I would be happy to just backup OS settings and use the means provided by each app for backup, but with this behaviour... it is not clear what s backed up by seedvault and thus the weird behaviour described in the closed ticket.
it should be said that the vpn is resetted also when the vpn app is excluded from the seedvault backup... a really weird behaviour

As I explained in my response there, the issue with the VPN app is a bug in the VPN app not in GrapheneOS or Seedvault and you need to report that to the VPN app rather than to us. Seedvault uses Android's standard backup mechanism and it's up to apps to be compatible with that.
