I don't know who needs to hear this (ok, yes I do) but ffs stop checking large binary files into git repos.

GitHub should have a default setting to disallow it, easy to override if needed, but there to clue people in who don't yet understand git and don't know why this is an awful idea.

Sometimes people do it by accident and then there's a huge binary in the history forever, unless it's caught quickly and they decide to rebase it out. It works well if it's actually your intention to make something like an archive of release artifacts in a separate repository.

Right. That's why I say GH should catch & stop it by default. So you're not lugging around mistakes a decade later.
