Someone tried to desolder the microphones and the camera on a Pixel phone?

It was a Nexus 5x in the video, which was actually quite easy relative to newer phones, which are much more difficult to open. I've looked at the motherboards of a couple different gens of Pixel, and if you can get into the phone without breaking the glass, it should be possible.

Note there are actual 3 microphones (see the Pixel 3 section): support.google.com/pixelphone/ans Accelerometers / gyroscopes are also effectively microphones though. The OS limits polling rate to 100-200 Hz but the hardware is usually capable of a lot more and do decent sound recording.

Barometers also have the potential to be used that way. IIRC, the squeeze feature works based on detecting pressure and on the waterproofing to some extent. Ideally there would be a single switch to disconnect each microphone along with sensors usable as low quality microphones.
