I missed this story until today because Ars Technica quietly removed him as a staff member without publishing a post about it: dailydot.com/layer8/peter-b They have a history of many creepy comments on Twitter and the Ars Technica forums but no one cared:

Ars was definitely aware that they were posting these things. A quick search in their forums shows it was pervasive. Not planning on reading content from there anymore. There should be a post acknowledging this and the role they played in not acting on it, but there's nothing.

Unfortunately part of the issue with the Conde Nast acquisition is that they were prohibited from discussing this by legal as I understand it. I know several staffers, everyone is horrified.
