twitter.com/DanielMicay/st The issues I brought up with Android platform-tools packaging across distributions have been addressed in Arch Linux: archlinux.org/packages/commu git.archlinux.org/svntogit/commu Version numbering was fixed and it's the latest stable release rather than a snapshot.

If you package Android platform-tools (adb, fastboot, etc.) for a Linux distribution, please switch to using the official version numbering and stable releases instead of building snapshots from stable releases of the Android Open Source Project and overwriting the versioning.

The platform-tools-29.0.2 tag was published alongside the release so the issue of it not being clear how to get the right revisions of the code is completely resolved: twitter.com/DanielMicay/st I think they just had to fix the automatic build / release system to push the tags.

I talked to @jmgao about this yesterday since it wasn't clear how to get the right revisions and there's now a platform-tools-29.0.1 tag: android.googlesource.com/platform/syste This is the latest stable release and should be used for the standalone tools. It's not tied to Android OS releases.

In a few years, maybe the resolution will trickle into Debian stable and there may even be a short window where the package is a bit less than a year out-of-date and can be used. Don't get your hopes up since they deliberately don't even ship security updates like Arch, etc. did.
