I love how the standard Git /usr/share/git/hooks/pre-auto-gc-battery hook is still broken after all these years. It only works on laptops. On a desktop, where /sys/class/power_supply is actually empty it prevents ever doing automatic garbage collection. One day maybe I'll fix it.

I usually don't mind that it's being skipped because I'd rather not have it trigger the garbage collection when I'm trying to get things done. It does bother me seeing "Auto packing deferred; not on AC" over and over again in the output when syncing the AOSP source tree though...

I do have the extra check in both the Git and repo variants. However, that check is only there for on_ac_power. That's part of pm-utils which is an obsolete project that's no longer developed and isn't packaged for distributions dropping unmaintained code like Arch and Fedora.

The check is missing for the proper way of checking for this which is direct usage of /sys/class/power_supply/. The approach with pm-utils has been deprecated for a long time. Debian still has that package but their entire repositories are unmaintained, obsolete software anyway.
