I think it supports them already, but only with Google Play Services installed. It would be very compelling if they implemented an alternative to this for devices without Play Services. I get the impression they aren't interested in supporting AOSP without Play Services though.

I don't really see which part of it requires a huge commitment. Chromium itself is committed to working without Play Services, but not with 100% full functionality. There are a few things missing and filling in those gaps involves some self-contained reasonably sized projects.

It's clear to me that I misunderstood what Brave was trying to accomplish and that past messaging by Brave has been intentionally or unintentionally misleading. It's problematic to present this one way as part of promoting it and seeking partnerships and then to change direction.

I had past conversations about potential collaboration and this new messaging on Play Services conflicts a lot with what was said in the past. I'm curious if it's actually an official position or is just your own opinion on it because it really doesn't match past statements.
