One has to add though that unfortunately

can not provide updates to firmware and device drivers which often have security vulnerabilities as well. It is better than no updates at all though. #FreeYourAndroid

GrapheneOS is only ever going to support devices where it can provide full security updates. Hardware and firmware security are crucial. In theory drivers could be maintained / replaced by the community, but that doesn't happen in practice and isn't production ready when it does.

See grapheneos.org/#device-support for more details. A device not receiving proper support from the vendors involved isn't something an OS can fix because an OS is only part of what's running on the hardware. It's also impractical to take over maintenance of all device-specific OS code.
