It's similar in that it's an open source mobile OS avoiding privacy invasive features and services. GrapheneOS is focused on developing privacy and security enhancements beyond the status quo baseline which is a distinction. They may want to include a portion of those changes.

That's why Auditor is able to support it. It can't support an OS like LineageOS because they don't support verified boot and don't try to preserve the whole overall security model that it depends upon. It would be harmful and misleading to support an OS without proper support.
