A preview of some of the branding commissioned for GrapheneOS. It will continue using the simpler Graphene icon for some uses like the favicon that need to look decent at incredibly low resolutions. I made sure to get these done as vector graphics so it can be scaled to any use.

I didn't like the more complex options with inner icons and gradients. I want very minimalist branding with a flat design so it fits with the design language used elsewhere. These could be made more complex with an icon in the middle but it would need to be something meaningful.

I prefer them facing outwards. I like how it looks and it makes it clear that it's a Graphene molecule. It will also allow making lattices out of the logo for the wallpapers and boot animation among other things. There can be more complex stylized versions for other uses too.

The basic icons need to be a memorable and very minimalist flat design. It's important for it to be distinct from tons of other logos based on hexagons too. I think it would be a lot less distinguishable if it didn't show those outward facing bonds. Could be a bit more complex.

The icons generated from these can also end up being more complex. For example, here's the largest legacy launcher icon generated by Android Studio from the simpler variant without inner ring, which is used when the site is added to the home screen: grapheneos.org/res/mipmap-xxx.

I haven't switched over to using the more complex variant with an inner ring yet since I need to decide on the color and where it should be used. I'll update the OS to use a matching highlight color too, since the icons, site, OS themes and app themes will all be consistent.
